Harrisburg Bike Show and Swap Meet

Went to the Harrisburg show yesterday with my friend Eric, we set up a parts table and entered our bikes in the show. I took 1st place for custom harley, Eric took home 1st for custom sportster. It was a good day. Also made some cash for the panhead project!

Triumph Drag Bike

So I needed a front wheel with a disc brake small enough to fit in the narrow trees, got a dirt bike 19 inch wheel. Just barely fits, but its in there, will have to shorten the forks some. This project is moving slowly bc I am trying to get the shovelhead for the ACO done.

So sometimes I believe a bike has its own personality, today the bike just begged me to be taken outside so it could get a feel of what is to come. I figured this was a good idea, hopefully it will be returned when assembly begins and I have to kick this bike over. Fabrication is on track, I think, just handlebars, gas tank, and foot controls.

ACO update - oil filter

Well I needed an oil filter for the bike, but I dont like it hanging off the side of the license plate mount. There are some real nice ones on the market, but way to much for me, so I am making one, for about 5 bucks. First made a paper template, the filter will go behind the tranny but in front of the rear fender, and will mount to the 4speed tranny. Then transfered the template to 1/4 inch steel, and cut it out and drilled the holes. I had to weld the threaded bung in the main hole for the oil filter to screw into. Then I will weld on 2 elbows for the brass fittings to fit into. I will do that part tomorrow. So basically its all tucked away in a space that I wanted to fill. Should work out great!

Triumph motor

Well the triumph motor is basically done its full rebuild, from the sludge trap up. Set up with some hotter cams, redone head, big bore kit, and dual amals. Its a 63 tr6, hope it has some more power now. Just need to drop it into the frame and install the rocker boxes and its ready for the timing. Hopefully I can get the roller going quickly to.

There it is folks! Spread the word! This is the only bike event in the area aimed directly toward people who build their own sickles by any means possible. The venue could not be more perfect as FDR skatepark is also hand built by the locals by any means possible. more blood, sweat & beers have gone into FDR than anyone can imagine so the place has a soul just like a well built chopper. its raw as fuck, not perfect by any means, sometimes kind of a bitch to deal with and will throw you down & destroy you in a split second. ive been skating FDR since it was a slab of blacktop with a concrete ledge & two pyramids & to see it come along as far as it has over the years is mind blowing. just like seeing a fucking shitpile of old parts in the corner of your garage that looks nothing like a usable motorcycle & making it into something amazing.not only will this be the sickest home built cycle show in the area, we teamed up with another good local dude who is putting out a DIY philly punk comp with some of the best bands in the area and beyond. our man chuck treece will be leading the lengendary philly skate punk band McRad so prepare to have your ears as well as your mind blown. our other man delaware josh, a very essential dude as far as building & ripping the park is organizing some skate related action for any & all to participate in such as a possible smoke bomb time trial around the park, spine contest & a janky micro quarter contest as well. also vert dogs, dont forget - we fixed up the vert ramp last year & its good to go, and for the mini-ramp champs, we've got you covered as well. we've also lined up some grub, merch/swap & most importantly some amazing sponsors who have put up a ton of awesome stuff for us to sell & raffle off & every red cent we raise on this day will go directly into the park. being a hand built park that gets used and abused as much as it does, it constantly needs repair, paint & of course, expansion is always a goal. just like the best custom sickle, its never done & always needs attention. so stuff some cash in your pocket for some killer stuff & to help us raise some loot for the park - strap your board to your bars or sissybar & plan on spending all day with the scum under 95 in south philly. it will be a day you will never forget.for those coming in from far away, there will be various things going on the night before. there is also a shitload of hotels in the area & dont forget philly international is about a 5 minute cab ride to the park so if any of you high rollers wanna cash in your frequent flyer miles, this would be the time. perhaps we can arrange for a sack to crack chopper shuttle for an extra twist of excitement! get in touch with clarke, D or me for details if your seriously making a long haul to come out. we will do our best to make sure your stoked.any sponsors who are on-board & havent mailed their goodies yet, please contact Clarke or me within the next few weeks so we can be sure to get your shit in time for the show. thanks a ton for everyones generosity & i hope all of our sponsors can make it to the event because it will be worth the trip down for sure.spread the word on all your blogs & sickle related pages please!

Finished up the rear end of the bike today, fender mounted, sissy bar made, all mounts good to go, and brake setup mounted. Just need to make the brake stay and mount the tiny taillight on the middle of the sissy bar. Need to work faster!

Well everything is clean! Soda blasting is great, bought the cheap little thing from Harbor Freight and it does it all, cases were cleaned with it. Hopefully, I can get started on assembly of it all this weekend, starting with the sludge trap.

So I have been working on my triumph drag bike for a little now and was wondering what to run in the rear for a tire. Yesterday, I talked to Cody and Hurst Racing Tires and found out they will be making a 4.50 x 18 slick which will fit the triumphs! They are planning on the summer for release, I am ordering like ten! Pics below are a prototype they have made.

So the tranny rebuild is done, Ron from Bike Works in Glenside, Pa did a great job it, I am sure to have no problems with it now. Cases were polished and I powdercoated the black pieces with my little coater. The kicker is from Baker, its straight and solid, and I fitted a small pedal on there.

Well I am putting another project on the list, as if I need any more. I am friends with the local bike shop and they are restoring their old drag bike from the 70's. Its an ironhead and it was fast, but its going to be street legal now. So we cam up with a little fun competition, their HD versus my 63 triumph I have sitting around. Gonna have to hop up the motor and light the chassis, but it should be fun. Anybody got advice, haha! Pictures coming soon...
